Hibs v Rangers

April 28th, 2010 No comments

Here’s the latest in my very occasional forays into sports reporting.

I still can’t believe how in-efficient bits of that process are; why do 30 journalists all need to go along and record the post match interviews when they are all broadcast on the radio anyway? Oh well, still makes for a nice day out…

The Last Latte (update)

December 28th, 2009 No comments

Well, i’ve fallen off this wagon, probably for the better I think. Americano coffee is nice enough, but not quite the same luxurious experience as the real stuff – which is much more suitable for the winter weather….

Heres a pic from a very pleasant jaunt I had with Craig Burton to the Snowbird ski resort just outside of Salt Lake City.

Princes Street Gardens (East)

I’d have to say that, on a nice day, Edinburgh has to be one of the most scenic cities around.

Here’s a view of Princes Street Gardens (East).

Cyprus

June 13th, 2009 No comments

We just got back from a lovely holiday in Cyprus. I’ve wanted to go their for a while and it did not disappoint – the Aphrodite Hills development outside Paphos has been designed and built to a high standard.

Only downside is the exchange rate from pounds to Euro’s, plus the monopoly prices from being on a stand alone development meant even basic things like  a coffee in the golf club cost £4.50…and that’s a bit much.

No matter, I expect we’ll go back there again sometime.

SPL CHAMPIONS 2009

It is a great honour and privilege to be addressing you as SPL champions today andeveryone associated with the Club is delighted to have secured our 52nd league title.

Once again, I would like to thank you for your tremendous support throughout the season, it means a great deal to me, the players, backroom staff and everyone at the Club.

Winning the SPL title is a fantastic feeling. We hit form at just the right time in the season and the players deserve great credit for producing results when it really mattered.

We were terrific against Dundee United yesterday and I don’t think our goals could have come at better times for us.

We didn’t need to say too much to motivate the players – I’m a great believer that they do that themselves and so it proved and we’re delighted to have come out on top.

The players have shown real character and when you consider everything we’ve achieved, it has been a great season.

We’ve got to the League Cup final, won the championship and we’ve got the Scottish Cup final next week. The boys deserve a lot of credit for that. Automatic qualification for the UEFA Champions League is also a massivething. It’s important, not only financially, but for the management, players, fans and everyone associated with the Club to be involved at this level.

Thank you for your continued support – we receive great backing wherever we travel and it was a fantastic feeling to bring the SPL trophy back to Ibrox yesterday where 30,000 fans were waiting to see us.

We look forward to seeing you at Ibrox in 2009/10 for an exciting new season.

Manager

May 8th, 2009 No comments

We had a great time, two weeks in Scotland….and it only rained once.

Lot’s of folk meeting the wee man for the first time.

And two big birthdays, Les’s 40th and my Dad’s 70th.
